A wonderful spot to enjoy some winter days of 2021. We loved the cottage in amongst the trees, hidden from the road and the warmth of a fire that we do not have at home. Simple and cosy and close to the treasures of The Bunya Mountains.

Whitewood Cottage was a secluded ideal getaway for our 46th wedding anniversary. We loved how it was set back into the Forrest, no traffic but just the sounds of the birds and bush to listen to.

We weren't very happy with our stay as the BBQ was out of gas and we had planned to have a BBQ Friday night. The jug was full of white flakes and I couldn't get rid of them so every time we had a cuppa it would be in the bottom of our cup. Not sure what filter system they have but the water also tasted terrible. Also the design of the shower is terrible as it wets the whole bathroom and you are forever wiping the water up for under the bath and the whole floor.

A beautifully tucked away cottage in the serenity of the rainforest. We absolutely adored whitewood cottage and wished we could have stayed longer.
Warren Sharpley
Beautiful, secluded property amidst the rainforest. It was a lovely, relaxing place to escape to for a few days. Thanks 🙏

We had a total unwind or rewind, whichever is the best way to describe our stay on the Bunya Mtns. Just beautiful.

We loved every minute. I spent hours sitting outside on the cabin deck waiting for wallabies, bush turkeys, and a large variety of smaller birds to find a spot to be still so that I could photograph them. Mobile signal was good so we could hotspot the TV for a movie, but the TV channels were intermittent (strange with all the towers on the mountain). The bed was comfy, and the cottage was very well equipped.

Lovely little cottage just the right size for 2. Great interaction with the local wildlife, my hubby even had a baby possum jump on his shoulder!

Our party of two adults stayed at the Whitewood Cottage for three nights from 30 October 2021. The booking and check in process was efficient. It was a rainy day and access to the Whitewood Cottage was precarious for one without a 4-wheel drive, the road to Burton was flooded. A replenishment of some fill would be ideal. The cottage was beautiful; quaint, rustic - well assigned decor with all amenities, set in beautiful bushland. The shower area does not drain well and the design of this space is not practical. Without a shower screen water splashes to the rest of the toilet floor, even if much care is taken. The most attractive feature of this spot is the abundance of wildlife. The friendly King Parrots, Kurrawongs, Bush Turkeys and lizards are heaven! We are lovers of wildlife and this was absolute bliss!. We took some birdseeds specifically for the birds and were rewarded with the experience. If one stays awake until 22:00 hours there is a friendly family of Bush Tailed possums that visit. The baby is the most adorable - second to the Wombats in Cradle Mountain. On the day of our departure, while returning to Brisbane, 45 minutes into our trip, we came upon a road closure at the turn off to Maiden well. We had to retrace our trip all the way back to the Bunya Mountains, via Kingaroy to Brisbane. I telephoned the Information Centre to advise them of the road closure and could they put a little sign on the KEY RETURN BOX of the road closure, so that other guests returning to Brisbane save some time. I was gobsmacked when one of the personnel in the front office (whose name I do not wish to disclose)...remarked "we know about this". A little more initiative to improve customer service is suggested.

We had a great time staying at Whitewood Cottage :) We loved the little studio and were surprised with how well stocked it was with kitchen utensils and everyday kitchen spices. Very well thought of. We also loved how secluded and private the cabin is. We will be sure to return!

Very quiet and well equipped room for relaxing. Hand feeding wild birds was a highlight. Will be looking at staying again.

Our visit was very enjoyable despite the weather. We found the cottage very comfortable with just a few little things that should be looked into. The cold water tap in the bathroom (hand basin) didn't turn off properly, hot water to the kitchen was nearly non-existent, the shower gel tube was actually empty and the wood was not particularly good burning wood. However, we were able to ignore these things and generally enjoy ourselves, The area is stunning and we would like to come back at another time, in a different season. This needs not to be published.

What an amazing little cottage, so peaceful and we enjoyed sitting outside feeding the birds in the afternoon. Cabin was nice, clean, comfortable and cosy for a weekend away. Great value for money

Whitewood cottage is such a nice little cabin in amongst the trees, which is perfect for relaxing. I liked that it also had a nice little seating area outside with a fire which was nice in the evenings to enjoy a wine or two. Inside the cabin was well maintained and very cosy especially with the indoor fireplace which we used every night when we were there (late January). The little extras such as condiments in the cupboard was a nice touch and unexpected. I loved the tub, perfect for a soak after walking the trails nearby. Each morning we were joined on the front deck for breakfast by the beautiful and very friendly birds, which was really nice. The rosellas were a bit cheeky though and sat on my knee which I found so cute as I do like birds. As the cabin is under a fig tree, you do hear the figs falling but this is only whilst the tree is fruiting. There is also a possum living in the roof, so you do hear it from time to time, and it is a bit clumsy and falls off the rafters sometimes, but this just makes the cabin more enjoyable as even the wildlife stay here. Overall, this is a beautiful, well designed little cabin nestled amongst the big hoop pine trees surrounded by nature. We will be back again.

Great location in the rainforest. Cosy, well appointed cottage. Great birdlife around.

We had a great stay at whitewood cottage. Very well equipped and also had essentials such as oils, salt and pepper and firelighters etc (basically all the things it tells you are not provided and to bring, ha). It was quite damp being in a forest and I did find it triggered my allergies with all the dust from the fire etc so maybe we would choose somewhere a bit more open with a view next time! The bath was amazing though and definitely a game changer.
Rhiannon G
Was an absolute delightful stay at the Whitewood cottage. Beautiful scenery and tucked away.
Sally Carlile
We loved our stay at Whitewood cottage. It was lovely and secluded in the rainforest and we made good use of the burning log inside to keep us warm through our stay. It was cosy and comfortable and we loved the recent bathroom update and the big bath! We also enjoyed sitting outside with a little fire in the chimney on a chilly afternoon. Such a beautiful location and we will definitely be back!
Tara Wood
The cottage is beautiful. Super comfy bed. The kitchen has everything you need. The bath is amazing. Peaceful, private and clean. Can’t wait to visit again
Blake Greenwood
Beautiful location, great walks and hikes, good feed at the tavern. Would recommend for people who love nature and need to get away from the hustle.
Ane-Katrina Cox
The cottage is loverly, the only suggestions I have is that when poeple arrive in the winter it is very cold, and you arrive late there is no wood close or kindling, so maybe have the fire set with kindling, firestarter, and extra wood to make it easier for poeple as it was suppose to be stress free and comfortable, but when you are cold and tryying to find firewood to light it it makes it stressful. The only other suggestion is that there is no where to turn around or park undercover, and there was no key provided for the back screen door.
Glenda Clark
Secluded cabin, very comfortable for 2 nights

This cute, quaint cottage was absolutely perfect for our romantic get away. Hidden amongst the rainforest trees, private and secluded with just nature and the wildlife surrounding you. The cottage had everything you needed and more including cut timber for the fire and and a Luxurious bath. Would have loved to stay longer.

Relaxing and quiet little cottage tucked away in the forest. Fire place both indoor and outside. Nice new bathroom with a big bath. Just what we wanted. Will definitely return.
Derek Butler
Excellent cabin. Comfortable, quiet and well furnished.
Merewyn Janson
Absolutely loved this cottage and regret not filling in the visitor book when we left. The space was perfect for 2. With adequate fridge and cupboard space. The quilt and electric blankets were so luxurious! The setting was amazing, with the birds and wallabies frequently visiting, especially the bird bath. Friendly robins, scrub Turkey's and wrens. We were lucky enough to see a male satin Bower bird enjoy the bath, and a whip bird each morning hopping through the forest floor. Wanted to see an owl but not lucky enough. A great distance to the lookout for the sunset and to poppies Cafe for scones and the tavern for dinner. Spent a day in Kingaroy and another bush walking. It truly was a magical getaway. My only faults were the shower head. Felt like it's great if you are 6ft tall but even then it sprays everywhere but on the human. There was no soap and I didn't bring any. And a hook in the bathroom is always a bonus. Otherwise loved the supply of wood and things like foil and cling wrap and baking paper. Would give this ***** ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed the peace, tranquility & privacy of the cottage as well as being completely surrounded by the magnificent forest.

Delightful Cottage, well appointed. Decent fridge! Bathroom lovely. Loved the bird bath which needs to be kept full - an amazing array of birds visited including Rifle and Cat birds, two pairs Satin Bower birds, Wongas. Brown Dove, Bassian Thrush. Fire Flies at night!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Whitewood Cottage in the Bunya Mountains. We had a stream of very colourful visitors of the feathered variety, they kept us entertained with their antics in the bird bath. A surprise visit from a young dingo as well.

My husband and I just spent a restful and restorative long weekend at Whitewood Cottage. On arrival, we were greeted beautiful parrots, rosellas, fairy wrens and bush turkeys who became our friendly companions as the days passed. The cottage is situated in the most beautiful settings. It felt like we left the outside world at the gates. Inside the cottage, we found a well-appointed home away from home with everything we needed. It was one of the most enjoyable holidays we’ve ever had and we both agreed we would definitely return.

The cottage was magical, a little secluded pocket in the village. We had everything we needed. The bath tub was awesome, we can’t wait to book a winter there to use the fireplace. So close to everything yet so far away!

Fantastic and cosy hideaway with a wonderful fireplace, would stay again.

Stayed 4 nights at Whitewood Cottage. Very secluded, private location off the beaten track. Small but well appointed, we had a lovely stay. For the owners, well done in creating a magical, romantic cabin. Thank you for the wine. The new bathroom looks amazing but is not practical, we had to use towels to create a barrier to stop the shower run off escaping into the living area. Needs a drainage point outside of the shower area. Also, some reflectors placed on the trees lining the driveway would be handy as it's very dark when reversing a car out at night. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Dave Ehrlich
Loved our stay! The perfect place to get away from the rest of the world for a couple of days to refresh the batteries.
Roland Stettler
Whitewood Cottage is gorgeous. Shaded by trees, it's easy to stay in bed while the combustion log fire warms the whole cottage. It was lovely to be away from other properties. Every convenience was provided, so eating in was easy. Eating out was just a short drive away. We would recommend Whitewood Cottage for a romantic get away.

Had a great time in the Bunya mountains, stayed at whitewood cottage for 4 nights to celebrate our anniversary, which was cozy, private and romantic. Loved the bath as well as good stocked kitchen utensils, bbq etc. Wildlife came to visit which was a delight. Highly recommended. Great choice of walks available for all abilities. Spent Australia Day in the national Park and felt closer to the first nation peoples and their history.

We loved the accommodation as it had everything we needed and especially liked the bush setting and wildlife visitors. We enjoyed our lunch at Poppies Cafe and walked 14kms one day and 16kms the next. The walks were stunningly beautiful with western aspect and it’s beautiful vistas, and beautiful eastern tracks with informative tree identification trail and easy tracks to walk.

If there is ever a place that you need to go to unwind, relax, and let nature nurse you, this is it. Our 3rd visit is only a pre-cursor to a 4th visit (booked already) which is our annual pilgrimege for unwinding.

We had such a wonderful stay. The cottage was beautiful, private, quiet, and well equipped and we loved that it was set amongst rainforest. The new bathroom renovations have definitely upped the luxury. The melodical backdrop of the wide variety of bird calls from the canopy was delightful. There is a tv there but given the flora and fauna that can be seen outside, we just turned around the recliners and watched the outdoors. Wonderful for decompressing after a busy year.

Was absolutely perfect for a romantic weekend away, it had all the amenities we needed to enjoy our stay. One of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed with the most friendly local wildlife, will definitely be coming back.

Very relaxing amongst the rainforest trees, with lots of birds to keep us company. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Whitewood cottage was an absolute joy . We loved our stay amongst the Bunya pines and the local wildlife. We would highly recommend. Great walks. Cottage was wonderfully presented and equipped. It’s definitely on our return list.

Enjoyed our stay. Signage to cottage could be better. Cottage name is on front fence, but not easily visible. Also fire starting kit should be offered at key collection time. No good discovering after hours you need to get the kit from reception.

We had a wonderful relaxing 3 days, we particularly enjoyed regular visits from the local parrotts. The cabin is very private and cosy.

A beautiful and serene couple of days at the Bunyas!

Absolutely loved our stay at Whitewood Cottage - located away from neighbours and surrounded by nature which we loved and made us enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle of home. Had a lot of little things that helped make the stay more great including providing tea, coffee etc. The kitchen has all the utensils you could need. Was a great stress free weekend for us. The visits from the possums at night was really cute. Bed was nice and comfy, new bathroom renovations are great and the little outdoor area is great for cooking some s'mores. Would definitely love to come back for another visit.

Whitewood Cottage is idyllic. The pictures are beautiful but in person it's so much more than that. The smell of firewood and the sound of complete silence (with the occasional chirping bird) is just perfection. We live in Brisbane on a busy main road so to be able to sleep in silence and drink coffee in the morning with white noise is simply bliss! This cottage is just pure heaven. So cosy, romantic, well kept and loved. It's obvious that the owners care about the cottage and care about their guests. I've been coming to Bunya Mountains for years (since I was a kid with my parents) and Whitewood Cottage is officially my favourite part of Bunya Mountains. It's a a little sanctuary and we feel very lucky that we were able to visit among the beautiful native wildlife. We loved the gorgeous bathtub, the big bed, recliner couches and basically just hiding away in the forest while cooking and relaxing with everything we needed provided for us. The only downside was a surveyor who came onto the property and parked in the driveway on one of the days we were visiting. He did work on the land for hours so our privacy was very comprised and we felt a bit uncomfortable. We feel like this could have been done on a day where no one was visiting the cottage. It was lucky we were out for most of the day on a hike in the beautiful surrounding national park. This doesn't take away from our amazing time at Whitewood Cottage though. We will certainly be back and we are very thankful to the owners and to the Bunya Mountains Accommodation team. We loved our time there and highly recommend an escape to this magical part of the world.

My partner and I loved staying at Whitewood cottage! We thought it was the perfect little getaway to relax and enjoy being amongst such beautiful scenery. Our only regret was staying for just 2 nights...we'll definitely be coming back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Whitewood Cottage. It is very thoughtfully provisioned and very comfortable. Only things could be improved is more hooks for towels or towel rail in the bathroom. There is nowhere for cloths to be hung so maybe a couple of hooks on the wall in the bedroom. A beautiful setting in the forrest and the decor is lovely. Thankyou.

We loved our stay at whitewood cottage!! The only think I’d like to see improved is perhaps some hooks or hat stand or something to hang clothes from. Rain jackets, coats, etc. I could have spend hours sitting on the porch, a more comfy chair would have been a bonus. Apart from that, it was excellent, especially the bathroom and the rainforest. The little outdoor fireplace was perfect.

Good. 1. Wildlife and privacy. 2. Very comfortable bed. 3. Bathroom good. 4. Tidy and compact. Potential improvements. 1. Table a bit tiny for 2 people to eat at. 2. Fly screens have holes, easy for bugs to get inside. 3. No keys for windows that had locks.

The cottage is comfortable and well set up for a 2 night stay. The location is fantastic - close enough to the village but set in the bush. There are plenty of animals and birds around the cottage (although people should be discouraged from feeding the possums - they are very friendly when you are using the BBQ facilities - and have no fear of humans). which makes sitting on the veranda very pleasant. Would recommend.
