A fantastic stay, we wanted for nothing, the house is perfect for a peaceful family gathering, and has all the amenities, including beautiful views and rain forest sounds.

We stayed in "Silky Oaks", a beautifully comfortable split level house, with a fireplace which heated both levels amazingly well! Silky Oaks is very well equipped and tastefully furnished, so relaxing! The beautiful Bunya Mountains National Park is ever close by, with its bird and wildlife, and of course...magnificent trees. One day I hope our whole family will stay in "Silky Oaks", for a much longer visit!!

Awesome property. Great views and morning sun. Bedding was comfortable and fireplace worked a treat. We even had fun using the wooden BBQ! We will be back!!

Loved the Bunyas. Silky Oaks is a great house and we loved our time there. Only problem was the cold wooden floors and the fact that the electric blankets in the upstairs bedroom did not seem to be working.

Once again, the Bunya Mountains accommodation did not disappoint! Silky Oaks was absolutely divine, with so much space for our two families, and thoroughly outfitted with everything we needed for another wonderful week away. The most perfect place to escape with friends... and the views are stunning!

We had a perfect week. Very cool and a short period of rain. Great for bush walking and sitting by the fire. Silky Oaks was comfortable with all the necessary amenities for a group of five, including two pre-teens. It has one of the best positions on the estate. Magnificent sunrises and great view while also being amongst the glorious bunya pine trees.

This is a lovely property which combines views, proximity to the forest and plenty of birdlife and wallabies.

Another wonderful holiday in the Bunya Mountains. Silky Oaks is a very comfortable House with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Saying that, we did have some cold weather (to be expected) and some reverse cycle air conditioners would have been most welcome.
Sam Wilkinson
Such a lovely and relaxing weekend. The house had everything we needed with lots of space. We are already planning to return.

Our stay at Silky Oaks was awsome . The home was spotless and had all you would need to make our stay as stress free as possible . The beds were very comfortable. Would certainley stay there again .!!

House was very well equipped. Excellent cooking utensils! (We often bring our own pan and knives as these can be a bit 'dodgy' at some places - we didn't need to use our own at Silky Oaks.) Bedrooms are well laid out. Great supplies of plates/ cutlery/ glasses. We were able to gather with friends at Silky Oaks and not have to ask them to bring supplies. This is very helpful!

What an absolute gem! Silky Oaks had everything we needed for our stay. We did worry about it not having fans, but we didn’t need them in the end. The property caught the breeze from the mountain. Just lovely and nice and quiet. We will definitely be coming back to stay again.

Excellent for a family or if you have extra guests. Sleeps up to 10 people. Set up high on a Cul-De-Sac & boasts 3 levels. Facing north with 2 decks you get a lovely outlook & get to look at all the wildlife & have lots of birds that come & visit which your can hand feed. There is a bbq area out the back, plenty of room for kids to play on the grass. This is a well appointed house & we enjoyed it completely. It has a bonus of Foxtel so free movies is great

We enjoyed our stay in the mountains. The house was comfortable; the grounds were well cared for and there was plenty of bird life.

A beautiful place to stay in for 5 adults and 5 kids ranging from 3-10. They loved sleeping in the loft. They were excited to feed the birds and seeing wallabies and 1 echidna in their own yard. The walks were lovely and so were the waterfalls. The staff at the accommodation centre were very helpful.

I love coming to the Bunya Mountains, it soothes my soul. All the houses I've rented there have been great - some better than others, but wherever you stay, it's always a delight.

We had an awesome time, house was perfect for us we will be back. The walks were suitable for ages 4-73 amazing rainforest kept the kids 4-10 very busy.

Loved our stay. Love Silky Oaks. Accommodation was clean and well maintained. Stocked enough to get us started, Wood pile stocked well. This is a beautiful home and I am thankful the owners share it with us.

We were a Group of 6 'Birdos' who were carrying out Bird Surveys in conjunction with another Group of 6 who were staying in a Cottage further up the road, so 12 in all. We had an excellent weekend of high quality Ornithological surveys under the auspices of BirdLife Southern Queensland, designed to monitor the health of the Bunyas' Key Biodiversity Area. Silky Oaks was an ideal house for our accommodation, clean, roomy, well appointed, and with good access to all our survey points.

The Bunya Mountains is one of our favourite destinations, and has a wealth of Birdlife, amazing Fungi, and the most beautiful views in every direction. The Booking Office is very helpful, most efficient, and it is very easy to make reservations. We have stayed at this property before, and it is clean and comfortable, but it does lack a few items, such as a Dishwasher. The lower level bathroom could do with a grab rail in the shower, as the shower floor is very smooth and slippery, which could be dangerous. There are also a few essentials in the kitchen that are missing, a bread knife and a sieve to name but two. Also, the water was not pleasant to drink, and the grey water recycling system was very smelly this time.

Gorgeous location and great facilities at Silky Oaks, really enjoyed our stay.

'Silky Oaks' is your quintessential Bunya Mountains holiday lodge - it has everything you need for a mountain escape. Perched on a highpoint of the estate, it boasts great views to the front, while being surrounded by ancient trees to its side. The log fire roared all weekend, the full kitchen was amply stocked to create amazing meals, and the comfy rooms were just right for cosy sleep ins. We were up the Bunyas to celebrate our Mum's birthday with a 'girls getaway', and our celebrations were only enhanced by the beauty of this home.

My first time at Silky Oaks and I absolutely loved it! The layout of the house is simply beautiful. There were 6 of us and with a shower and toilet on each of the upper levels it was easy having 3 people to each one on each of the bedroom levels. Nice sized kitchen and fridge with plenty of tables and chairs to sit at and enjoy a meal or just sit and watch the birds. Turkeys abound on the days we were there with some cockatoos and rosellas. We didn't see many wallabys during our stay. Big morning mists were amazing to watch as they floated in and past us. Very clever how they did the BBQ area (we didn't use it though). Loads of laughs shared around the indoor fire. Thank you for having us Silky Oaks :)

Lovely clean home. The sunshine was beautiful on the deck.

We had the most amazing 4 night stay at Silky Oaks. The house was amazing very spacious, terrific kitchen, fabulous large lounge room with fireplace, good size bedrooms & loft, great size deck with beautiful views. There was an abundance of wildlife, rosellas, king mountain parrots, white cockatoos, wallabiesa & kookaburras. A wonderful time with all the family, making more fantastic memories.
Tammy Hart
Fantastic house. Our 2nd stay here. Very spacious. Nice outlook. Plenty of birds.
Phil G
Our second time here, we will be back next year this place works well for two generations. Wallabies were scarce, unlike last year. Plenty of birds to feeb, bring your own feed so much cheaper.

This is the third time in the past 12 months that I have chosen to stay in Silky Oaks, and it is a very well appointed house, and most comfortable. There are a few minor issues that should be addressed. The flyscreen on the sliding door onto the small verandah off the dining area needs replacement, as it is worn and frayed, and not fixed into the frame. As a suggestion, may I recommend having it replaced with Aluminium mesh, which will be slightly more expensive than Fibreglass as at present, but will last so much longer, and therefore in even the medium term will be cheaper. The skylight over the front door leaks in the rain, and there was quite a large puddle of rain-water after a bit of a storm. I was told that the bedside light in the Upper Floor bedroom does not work, though I was only told after we had checked out. Possibly it just needs a new globe, or maybe there is a loose wire somewhere? The window blind next to the Verandah from the Lounge needs a rod fitted to it so that the blind can be adjusted open and closed. On a previous visit, I did mention that the shower floor is very slippery, and a non-slip mat would be a good idea, as elderly people can easily slip, and could injure themselves. This is quite an important consideration, which I think I mentioned in December 2022. One last point that I was asked to mention was that when one of the guests was looking for a key that he had misplaced, he commented that there was a considerable amount of dust in the lounge under the furniture, and it was suggested that I report that. Whilst this may seem a bit fussy, they are in a general minor items, but if fixed, it would provide a more positive aspect to the tenants.

I’ve just had one of the most relaxing 5 nights away with my family that I’ve had in a long time. The place was nice and high on the hill and very clean and tidy. The lounge room with fire was very spacious. I loved that the birds would come down for food and ate out of our hands. We will be back for sure.
Gwyneth Evans
Lovely spacious home - ideal for our group of friends. It was well equipped, and the fire kept us cosy.

Very comfortable house for a group of people.Well equipped. Clean. It would be helpful to have a small stool outside the door for taking our walking shoes off .
Maxine Van Scherpenseel
It has been many years since our last visit to the Bunyas, it was more beautiful than I remembered. Our stay was idyllic, enjoying the abundant wildlife and the many rainforest walks. Silky Oaks was spacious with everything we needed, the large (10 seater) dining table would be great for larger groups.
John Clausen
Stayed at the Silky Oaks home was lovely and clean quiet and very comfortable would highly recommend for a relaxing stay.

It was a lovely stay and 2 nights definetly not enought. The area where the house located is amazing, a lot of wallabies around made our experience magical. BUT This house has 3 bedrooms, not 4 as was written on the description.
