Bunya Mountains is a beautiful place for some rest and recreation, the crimson rosellas and king parrots are just beautiful. There was also many wallabies and scrub turkeys, to be seen happily feeding around the mountain. We stayed in Octagon, it was very comfortable, it had every thing in it that you could want, we really enjoyed our time, we will be back again.

My husband, daughter and I had a fantastic stay. The only issue that I had with the stay was that there was a power outage that we were not made aware of when checking in. Very happy with our stay at Octagon, it was clean, light and comfortable. Nice, easy walk to have a cuppa and a meal at Poppies or the tavern. Thanks also to the staff at the accomodation centre who have been amazing when I have travelled to the Bunyas.

The video player didn't work and the DVD slot in the side of the TV didn't work which we wanted to use and a clothes rack to hang our clothes in the bedroom would have been nice, the fridge needs to be up graded way to small and broken inside wouldnt hold food or drinks in the door shelving, the rest of our stay was beautiful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Octagon in the Bunya Mountains. We are walkers, so enjoyed proximity to the wonderful walking trails, not to mention cafe facilities of the village. We found Octagon itself most comfortable and well appointed, and well priced.

Once again my husband and I enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful time at the Bunyas. It has a way of helping one to relax and get back to nature with the birds, wallabies etc. Can recommend the Bunyas for a lovely stay to everyone. The lodge was very comfortable - a bit disappointing that you have to make the bed and there is no complimentary tea/coffee/sugar provided. I also feel that it is a bit steep that the $200 bond is held for 6 days after departure. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant but although it was open all day for dining on the Friday - when we went in for a late lunch the only option was deep fried fish or a salad, again a bit disappointing - should be better communication for guests regarding options give that there are no other option, the cafe closes at 3.30.

The Bunyas are always good. We had a great time and will be back in the near future.we will however not stay at the Octogen again as it was not up to the standard that we normally receive on the mountain.

We enjoyed our stay there. The weather was very hot so s as appreciated the air conditioning. There was a strong smell of stale smoke inside even though there were smoke alarms. We’re not smokers so the smell was off putting. Everything was provided so we appreciated that. The clock on the wall and the TV remote both needed new batteries.

The Octogon was a quaint little place. We stayed for 2 nights and honestly had the worst nights sleep we've ever had. The mattress on the main bed, really needs to be replaced as well as the sheets. A bit of TLC and this place would be really great to stay at.

The house has all the basics and plenty of wood for the fireplace. It was very helpful during the cold winter nights. It is perfectly located, close to the main tracks, cafes and the office.

We chose to stay at the Octagon, because last time we stayed outside the Bunya Mountains and drove up each day. The Octagon is a lovely small house very suited to us as a senior couple, but also has a second bedroom with 2 bunks for families. It is equipped with a cosy fire heater for Winter, yet we chose to use the reverse cycle aircon instead to save emissions. Outside there is lots of wildlife - birds and tame wallabies. The Octagon is handy to the village, Tavern, cafe and general store. The walking trails were our main interest. The prettiest walking trails start from the village. A new mountain bike trail system is available nearby and includes its own robust walking trail. Sunset and sunrises should not be missed at the lookouts. We would stay in the Octagon or similar again as we discovered that it is better and safer to stay in the Bunya village itself than drive up the steep climb each day from Bell or another town on the plains. Bring your handheld UHF if you get lost as mobile and WiFi is patchy.

Octagon is a very basic, no frills 2 bedroom cottage. Do not eclectic toiletries, tea or coffee or early and pepper. One air-conditioner does all 5 rooms. The outdoor seating area is the front porch which is big enough for 3 chairs. The second bedroom has no ventilation if the door is closed. It is overpriced at $190/night on December 22.

Maybe some bigger red wine glasses would be nice. It is not screened but I am not sure if that is a problem in summer. I would stay there again.

In a word Wonderful!! The house was ideal for the 4 of us, two couples on a long weekend. There was a queen bed in one room and a double bed/bunk bed in the other. The fire place was amazing and the firewood abundant, it warmed the whole area. The coldest day we had was 1 degree and the fire was excellent!!! You certainly don't need to bring any crockery and cutlery etc, as there is a mountain of it!! The cottage is walking distance to all the eateries and the store, where you can buy reasonably priced alcohol as well. We had dinner at one of the bistros there and we could walk to and from there, so it didn't matter if we had a couple of drinks. I thoroughly recommend this cottage as a great place to stay!!

We loved our stay in the Octagon house, and would definitely choose this place again for a return visit. The house was very spacious for two people (it has a second bedroom with a double/bunk bed, and plenty of room for a family with a few kids). It's right in the centre of the village, an easy stroll from the local shops and some lovely walks. Wallabies and crimson rosellas on the lawn. Gorgeous! The house is very well-equipped. Everything a small family would need for a longer stay. We expected the weather, and possibly the house, to be cold (early August), but the combustion stove is super-efficient (better than ours at home) and the house was warm and snug. Plenty of firewood provided. A lovely, warm, quiet, convenient and comfortable place to stay!

We loved our stay at Octagon thank you. The only criticisms I have would be the mattresses need updating and I think it would be good to have screen doors on the front. We found that by dusk we had to close the front doors to keep mozzies out.

The property had all the things we needed. The kitchen is well appointed, the living area is spacious, and the beds are comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The only constructive comments I offer are: 1. Pavers which make up the patio at the front door are very loose and uneven and look to be coming apart. They are a potential trip hazard, and 2. Someone has put a sheet of newspaper in the skylight to the second bedroom. I assume it’s been done to darken the room a little. It just looks weird, not sure if anyone has raised this before. Our first time in the Bunya mountains staying in a holiday home. We thought over all it was lovely there was everything we needed in a lovely location and we will be back for sure. I would say a few things however.... - 2 x kettles are absolutely disgustingly dirty and also didn't turn off when it was boiled so when distracted it boiled itself dry and made a mess all over the bench. This made me really upset as i had an infant who relied on the boiled water and even though its boiled it was disgraceful for the sake of a $10 replacement kettle. - The main bed has a huge dip in the right hand..obviously broken making a very un comfy sleep. - No screens on the windows - not a major but a breeze is still nice but bugs are not. Again over all was a great stay and good for price...we may try another holiday home in the future...but would return to Octagon :)

We enjoyed our stay at Octagon. The house was very clean, neat and had lots of books, games etc., to keep one busy. The only thing I found that was disappointing was that the front veranda was dirty and not very well maintained. As my husband and I are both in our seventies, and the path from our car to the door was not very safe. Otherwise, we enjoyed all the wallabies and the birds. We definitely will be back. Thanks to all the friendly staff all over.
