The Bunya Mountains offer a wonderful opportunity to rest, recharge and unwind. Being immersed in nature with wildlife and bushwalks is good for the soul.
Chris Bathersby
A lovely house to stay in. Neat. Clean. Lovely fireplace. Pity about the outlook - not a great view from within, and with a covered area at the back what little view you have is partially blocked. Love the way the birds and wallabies come right up to the back door. Internal stairs very creaky so moving around disturbs others especially at night. Overall a good place to getaway for a couple of days.

Place was clean and beautiful, reasonably well priced and the check in and out was very easy and super friendly staff.

Had a lovely stay at 'house on the hill's. While the decor is somewhat dated(early 90's?) It is in surprisingly good condition.

Comfortable house to stay in for a few days. Some parts of the property are a little bit tired, but it is fully equipped and everything works.

The mountains are beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. The tavern has excellent food and the convenience store is well stocked.

The house was airy and offered lots of light. We enjoyed the fireplace and all the reading material to accompany it. Lots of sitting areas inside and outside to enjoy. We even got some bird visitors during our afternoon tea time!

Our stay was most enjoyable and relaxing. The wildlife and birdlife was an added bonus. The meals at the Tavern were very tasty and value for money

Absolutely lovely accommodation We had 3 wonderful nights there and loved it Only thing it could do with a fan as it was quiet warm at times

Excellent location close to three visitor car parks. Comfortable for a family. Great to have two bathrooms.

The overall stay was quite relaxed.

Great house - heaps of space yet still cosy. Will return! Of note, the downstairs shower is over a bath so an issue for older guests. Second bathroom only has shower but is upstairs. Great for a family just a bit of a struggle for the grandparents.

Nice layout but need maintenance and updated decor.....warning about the gympie plant should be sign posted and reception should carry first aid. They were bo help when I needed medical help however the staff at the convenience store were wonderful giving us cream and scissors to treat and dress my injury

Lovely place for an Easter weekend. Everything you need is there. Peace quiet and NO internet.

Very nice and relaxing, comfortable beds. Cosy home. We would definitely return. It suited our 2 children, 13and 10 years old. Fun time had by all. The receptionist ladies were awesome, made it easy to deal with. Thank you keep up the good work 👍😊

It's the second time we have stayed at the House on the Hill, even though we have stayed at other places, it is by far our favourite. We were disappointed that we were very short on firewood and that smoke alarm upstairs beeped constantly during the night, but apart from that we had a great time.

Wonderful time at the Bunya’s, loved the walks in the National Parks. Our house was so well equipped, every thing we needed was there. We had a lovely meal at The Bunya’s Restaurant and also another at Poppies on the Hill. Great selection of alcohol too.
Maureen Cumming
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 4 people stayed. The couple upstairs reported a lot of scratching in the roof. There was 2 keys for the front door but neither worked to lock the deadlock.
Stuart Marx
Bunya mountains was as beautiful as ever. Loved the fireplace and house has all the needs to have a lovely stay. House though was dirty with cobwebs and funny worms all over the walls upstairs and downstairs so would recommend fumigation and getting the house walls wiped. Nice home but will choose others next time.
Heather Smith
We had a lovely time, would go back and stay.

The house we stayed at, House on the Hill, was simply a bed for the night. There was nothing to write home about. If I'm honest, for the money I expected better. Here's the things that stuck out the most to me... - The place is old, and it shows. Looks like it hasn't had any work done to it in 30 years. - The floorboards upstairs are unacceptably loud and creak with every movement. Some of the steps feel like they're going to cave in almost. - The fireplace is unintuitive. There is a sliding switch, but it's not mentioned anywhere which way is what. A simple direction would've helped a lot. We tried googling it, but pretty hard with no reception. - The tv was positioned in a strange corner, with none of the couches facing it, and it's about the size of my computer monitor. SO small. Can literally buy something bigger for $100 these days. Unacceptable in 2023. - The plates/cups/glasses etc, every single piece a different type. Please invest in a matching set, they're really not that expensive. - The outdoor bbq was greasy/dirty when we went to use it. Had to spend some time cleaning it first. - The place is riddled with cobwebs, moths and silverfish. My parents came to stay, and I had to spend a solid half an hour cleaning the ceiling and walls in their room first because it looked like it hasn't been used in years. Totally unacceptable. - The upstairs shower is incredibly low, and the spray is uneven. We had to bend our knees and crouch down to get under it. We are average height. Seems like it was designed for kids. - Every time you use the water, flush the toilet, it's extremely loud. And the noises persists for a while afterwards. Especially annoying when someone is trying to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. - The couches in the loungeroom look so old, used and dirty. How many sweaty bodies have been sitting in them? Felt gross using them. They were the main things that irked me. On the bright side, the location and scenery were good. Overall, just a really old, run down house, and I don't think it was worth the $210 per night we paid. We can stay in modern beachfront apartments for that sort of money. They're really relying on the remote nature of Bunya I think. It shows that no money is being spent on the house to modernise it, which is a shame because it really, really needs it. We felt like we went back in time to the 80s or something. Old house, old furniture, comically small tv, no reception at all, and a few kids cartoon dvds there for our viewing pleasure. I would rate this 2/5. It's below average, but location and Bunya itself is a nice and scenic area.

Loved staying in this house. Cosy, comfortable…has everything you need. Will return.

Friday 5th April-The Bunya Mts is a great place to visit and stay. it was misty and raining for our visit but we still had a great time. The meal at the Pub was top class along with the friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast & Coffee at Poppies was lovely once again friendly and efficient staff. the area in so lovely with abundant wildlife. 'House on the Hill' our three-bedroom accommodation is large older house but well-appointed with all needs. Having a car port was fantastic with the rain as we could unpack car in the dry. Well worth the visiting the area.

Good location on Bunya Avenue. House is a little dated, however still cosy and a nice getaway.
Anne Hodgkinson
We had a magical weekend at House on the Hill. A nice easy walk to the cafe, tavern and bird feeding. A lovely warm house with electric blankets on the beds and a beautiful fire. A slightly dated kitchen with no dishwasher but good amenities and bathrooms.
Brian Sullivan
Loved every minute of the beautiful Bunya Mountains. The House on the hill very good every thing you Need. The house is tiered and in need of some TLC.I left a list of all things that need Urgent attention at the office when handing Keys back: eg Smoke Alarms, all plumbing

Loved the Bunya’s, great time with the family, feeding birds and going for walks

The Bunya Mountains was the perfect restful break I needed before the beginning of an intense year at uni. I loved the quiet, the wildlife and greenery, the stars and the clean air. How's the serenity? House on the hill had everything we needed.... OK, be brought our own plunger, but everything else was there for a relaxing break.

We have been going to the Bunya mountains for over 25 years. We absolutely love it. My children now take there families for a break away 💜💜

House on the hill was amazing. There was plenty of room for our family of four and could have fit plenty more. Location was perfect, short walk to cafe and restaurants.
CLINT BALINT
3 star rating due to dated decor, very squeaky upper level floor boards. TV is too small for lounge room, almost need binoculars to see it. Very poor reception for anything. Only has 1 covered car space.. could of had 2 if water tank was placed better. Wood stack is open to weather, so firewood was wet. Good things, location... will not be back to this one unless improvements are made.
Jo Jensen
The house is so spacious, although we are a couple, a family would have plenty of room to stay. So quiet and lovely to see wallabies grazing everyday in the front and back yard. Colourful Rosella's and parrots everyday. Great location to walk to tracks and cafe.
Jan Tomlins
A really beautiful part of the world. Everyone we dealt with in business on the mountain was friendly and helpful. We will keep you in our prayers for good rains as all that area is so dry. Even in the rainforest the soil was parched. Never in my life have I seen a rainforest so dry.
Kevin Hegarty
We have stayed at House on the Hill many times over almost the last 20 years. That in itself is a review. We keep coming back. It is a very comfortable house and great to return to after enjoying a good Bunya walk.
Gail Walter
Great house for a family, lots of room for everyone.
david robinson,
had a great time up there last week. we did the 4klm walk just a pity there was very little water in the creek, the house we stayed in was quite comfortable for 4 people, and well equiped.we would recommend a stay at this house and we will be back.

Beautiful spot..quite special... goes without saying! Fireplace made the house very cosy. Well equipped kitchen...apart from some minor maintenance issues it was great. Enjoyed close proximity of wildlife. Accommodation office staff very friendly and helpful.

We have been coming to the Bunya's for 27 years and look forward to our 3day break every year. Love every part of it, birds, wallabies and best of all the bush walks.

Great house to stay in. Loved the wood fire. Wallabies, Rosella's, Scrub Turkeys at the door.

The house was great. Very comfortable and in a great spot. The weather was terrific. Was cold in June but made for great nights indoors with the fire on all night.
Robin Goodwin
The house was ideal for us 6 people. A selection of glass wine glasses are needed. Mid size to large microwave dishes would be helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house.

House was the perfect size and layout for our family. Great location close to everything and plentiful wildlife. However the stairs were very creaky, and the upstairs shower was ridiculous (terrible shower head.) We loved the stainglass front door, but a screen door to fly proof the house would be beneficial.

The property was very clean and functional and suited our stay perfectly. Great proximity to local services. and we would happily stay there again. The only issue was when the doonas were removed from two of the beds, a ton of small spiders swarmed over the mattresses. We used some bug spray and put 2 bottom sheets down as protection and ended up leaving one bed vacant as a precaution. There didnt seem to be any bugs anywhere else.
