Comfortable and beautiful place on top of the hill with views from every window!

The property is really beautiful, very nice views and spacious. We loved our stay there except for the mice. We were told there is a mice plague and nothing could be done but we had dead mice in the house almost every day in our 3 days stay. We understand its mountains but still think something should be done about this. Otherwise , great place, great location.

Fantastic outlook, house could do with some TLC Enjoyable stay

The house has a wonderful sunken lounge that faces east - great for letting the sun warm on a cool morning. Stunning views all day long.

Zelma and I enjoyed our stay at this property very much, in spite of some inclement weather - storms (two with hail!), westerly winds. It is comfortable, homely and well-appointed; the lounge with its extensive views is special.

Hillcrest is a well-positioned property with excellent views and a lovely aspect. We really enjoyed all of the natural light that the property captures and the morning sun on the front deck was lovely on what was otherwise a cold winter's day. There are lots of games, DVDs, and books to keep you occupied if you are indoors and not our walking through the national park or looking at the local wallabies. The property itself is tired and needs some genuine TLC to bring it back to life.

The views are unbelievable, to watch the sunset in the morning is something i willing not forget. Love the Birds that come to visit, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great place to bring family and friends. Love the Gift/convenient store, restaurant and cafe. I will be back for sure.

Hillcrest was lovely. A beautiful view from the lounge area and a lovely fire with well stocked firewood. Some of the furniture was a bit dated, but it had a lot of charm. The kitchen had all the cooking tools we needed including rice cooker, slow cooker, bread maker, etc. We loved our time at Hillcrest and would come again. You do need to remember to bring your own toilet paper!

Lovely second stay in this home, beautiful spot with amazing views out to Tarong. The kitchen was well equipped and bed was nice and comfy. Love the sunken lounge in this house and all the windows make it a nice and airy home.

We had a lovely time at the Bunyas. The house has amazing views. The beds were very comfortable. The house really needs maintenance done as it is a little tired was disappointed in the outside deck in needs some work and definitely a new outdoor setting we didn't want to sit out there at all which was disappointing. I feel if it was updated and some maintenance done it would be fantastic.

We recently stayed at Hillcrest and absolutely loved our stay. We found the house to be cozy and well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the DVDs for the day that was so windy we couldn't leave the house. The birds and Wallabies were beautiful.

As you know, we visit the Bunyas every year, usually on this same weekend. We know to expect cold weather but unfortunately this year it was particularly cold due to some unexpected polar blast which brought freezing winds. We have been coming to the Bunyas for over 20 years and have stayed in 12 houses. Unfortunately we found Hillcrest to be a very cold house, particularly the bedrooms and bathrooms as the wood fire only warmed the lounge area. The kitchen is well equipped. We were not visited by any wildlife, again probably due to the very cold. As the house is positioned high on the hill it was particularly affected by the wind. The kitchen light and one bulb in ensuite were not working. The "heat lights" in main bathroom are very old and virtually ineffective and could do with replacing with newer lights which are far more effective and also some wall heaters in bathrooms.

Great accomodation. Very spacious and Comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Staying at Hillcrest was an absolute delight. The house was the perfect size and well set out with a great collection of games, puzzles and DVDs for rainy days. The views were beautiful when the fog lifted and we loved feeding the variety of parrots that visited the back deck.

Lovely house! Perfect common living space that brought us all together. Beds were very comfy and electric blankets kept us warm. Kitchen is also stockpiled with equipment! Unfortunately though, with no central heating we were extremely cold and could see our breath inside even with the fire blazing… temps were about 5 degrees. Still recommend 100%! Very homey feel and absolutely perfect winter getaway (maybe just visit in Easter/September for more appropriate warmth)

We had a great time at Hillcrest house. Comfortable with a wood fire in the sunken lounge and lovely views!

There were 3 of us staying at Hillcrest, myself and my wife (I am Australian and my wife is El Salvadorian) and an overseas visitor (my wife's sister from El Salvador). We only stayed for two nights (28th & 29th October). Unfortunately! The property was ideally situated to take advantage of the most fabulous view and the house built to allow it all to be taken in in relative comfort. The early morning sunrise (around 4.30am) was quite literally breathtaking from the front verandah. The wildlife was friendly with lots of different birds and numerous wallabies dropping by to say "hello" (with little obvious fear of human contact). The house was extremely well equipped - we could have quite happily have lived there, preparing our own meals, enjoying the vast collection of music, movies, etc. provided, for much, much longer (if only we didn't have to return so soon to the hustle and bustle of city life). We didn't need to cook for ourselves in the house. We had brought our own food in anticipation but, frankly, the breakfasts at the local coffee shop were great value and the local restaurant served such excellent food, again great value. The the staff at both places were friendly, helpful and willing to do whatever it took to to make the whole Bunya Mountains "experience" so smooth and easy. For my wife and I, our stay was a welcome break from our "normal life" back in Brisbane. For my wife's sister it was a very Australian tourist adventure that she will never forget. For all of us it was both exciting and relaxing (sounds strange, I know, but it is the only true way to describe the experience). The Bunya Mountains area with its picnic areas, walkways, rainforest, mountain views, etc. is beautiful (as you who live there already appreciate, I'm sure!). So much to see, so much to do and so little time - we will certainly be back (perhaps not my wife's sister as she will shortly be returning home to El Salvador with her photos to show her friends and remind her of her wonderful stay there). We would like to thank the property owners for allowing us to stay in their comfortable home with so many facilities. We would also, very sincerely, like to thank everybody at the Bunya Mountains who helped to make our stay so memorable.

We, a family of 4 adults, a 17yr old and an 11yr old had 2 weeks at Hillcrest from 23/12/22 to 07/01/23. We had the most amazing time. Lovely cool weather for all but one day so we were able to enjoy sitting the fire which was a real novelty for two of us who live most of the year in Kununurra WA. The 11yr old absolutely loved the birds visiting on the back deck. We did lots of relaxing, book reading, watching DVD'S, completed all of the hikes, watched the sunset a couple of times from Fishers Lookout, walked to Poppies Cafe and the Bunya Cafe & Store quite a few times, had a lovely dinner at the Bunya Tavern, and did a few day trips to Dalby & Tara, Coomba Falls, The Palms National Park, Ravensbourne & Crows Nest National Parks. The house was very well equipped and the view from the large windows in the lounge very impressive. The cool weather meant we could wait for the fog to clear later in the morning before setting off on the walks etc. A fantastic time was had by us all. The perfect place to get away from it all.
Alison Cameron
House itself was lovely. Enjoyed being out on the Ridge for the first time.
Paul Lecky
We had a wonderful time at Hillcrest. As keen bird photographers the pruned trees in opposite the provided for continuous parade of subjects. Hillcrest has a great sunny aspect and warmed quickly on the cool mornings. We have already booked a repeat visit for next year. Our only complaint was most of us found the beds a little soft.
Nick Thaqi
Lovely location, and house Only if BBQ worked the first night(next day i fixed it) so we didn't have to cock stakes in the fry pan for 6, even sausages half an hour on it and did not cock there (back to the fry pan) I have time stamped photos to. It spoiled my 60th Birthday Diner
Maree Lacey
Spectacular views from this property. The house is very well equipped and was very cosy during some extremely cold weather. We only had a short stay but would consider coming back to this property for a longer stay.

Wonderful three nights at Hillcrest, very well equipped with beautiful views and great fireplace. A big Thanks to Kylie in reception who went out of her way to accommodate us when original booking was unsuitable.

The house was perfect and had a wonderful relaxing stay listening to the birdsong and sitting by the fireplace

We loved this house!! It was spacious, warm and light. The house had all the amenities we could ask for and was a good option for our family with a toddler: finding a house with bedrooms not on a second floor can be a challenge in Bunya. Our daughter especially enjoyed feeding the cockatoos on the verandah in the morning and seeing an echidna one evening wandering across our front lawn.
Pavel Shageev
Nice spacious place, great view, a bit hot without aircon on arrival, but most of our time was rainy - we were lucky
Barbara Eacott
Amazing! Very comfortable house with everything we needed and exactly as pictured. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Will come again.

For this visit to Bunya Mountains, we needed access to good internet connection as my husband had to do some work on his computer during the week. As we rely on Laura to provide us with honest feedback and helpfulness, we took up her recommendation of Hillcrest. We felt really comfortable in the house and really appreciated the views and bird life that visited us daily. We appreciated - Large rooms, sunken lounge with beautiful views, Very comfortable lounges, Great TV reception. The TV worked the first time, we didn't have to wrangle it to work! Great kitchen layout with thoughtful items included. (We appreciated extra bin liners, zip lock bags, condiments etc. Well stocked kitchen with all the appliances that we needed (and more), Great storage spaces through the house. Nice clean soft mattress, House was very clean. BBQ was clean and worked really well.

3 bedroom Hillcrest was the ideal holiday house for us 5 adults, spacious lounge -- very well equipped kitchen -- good sized bedrooms. large back deck we did not use due to the heat and birds but front verandah was cool.b being mid November it was quite hot and there were no fans or air conditioning however with all windows open it soon cooled down and great by 6pm. would stay during winter months.
Mary-lou
Great house with fabulous views high on the mountain. House was spacious and comfortable. Loved fireplace, novels and DVDs provided. Double bed mattress needs replacing and oven slow to bake. Otherwise all great.

This was our 6th stay in the Bunya Mountains and our first at Hillcrest. This large well appointed home has magnificent views and everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We love the Bunyas - it is a peaceful getaway from a stressful world.
