Absolutely loved the Bunya Mountains and Firetail. Great position. Beautiful, fully equipped, renovated kitchen. Verandahs on 3 sides ensured sunshine and fabulous views. Birds ate out of our hands on the back deck. Firetail was like a home away from home!

Firetail was amazing! The view was spectacular, hand-feeding the absolutely gorgeous birds was a highlight for our children, the house was well stocked with all the kitchen essentials. Having a reverse cycle air conditioner, oil heater and fireplace was wonderful as it was freezing when we stayed. Suggest taking nice warm clothes if going in July as there weren't enough warm blankets for the beds. Everything was clean and tidy and the firewood was well stocked and accessible. The weekend was a surprise for a family member's 70th birthday celebration and was truly memorable. Thank you!

Loved the view, especially the sunrises. House was very comfortable and felt like home for teh time we were there. The fireplace was very welcome. Bed was comforable. Enjoyed having the crimson rosellas and king parrots come for a feed most afternoons, but not so much the bush turkey:(

This is the first time here and it was great. Great views, large living and dining areas. Only one bathroom so might be tight with a large family but perfect for a couple. I went in mid summer and still could have lit the fire on at least one night, but I’ll be back! Great time on my own.

Nice and comfortable, house was clean on arrival very well equipped, it was good to have hand rails in toilet and shower had my 88year old mother with me. Had a portacot would be a good idea to advertise it.Good amount of books and some toys 🧸 for the kids. Views were amazing nice quiet spot .Enjoyed our stay, would stay there again.

I enjoyed the stay. We got to eat at both Cafes, had dinner at the Tavern, saw the fireflys, and tracked thru the short trails. I relaxed, I enjoyed the birds, and had a wonderful time. The house was clean, tidy, enough of everything you needed, and what they did not supply they were very clear about.

We enjoyed our stay, the views are spectacular. A very quiet spot with plenty of wildlife. The house was clean and had a very well equipped kitchen, with extras like oil, condiments, tea, sugar, etc in the pantry. The house did have a dank odour, especially the back bedrooms. I presume this is from being shut up with curtains closed much of the time. Some ventilation and air freshener would definitely help. But overall a lovely place with plenty of room for a family.

This is the second year running that we have been at Firetail for a long weekend in the Bunyas, and carried out a number of Bird Surveys. It was as usual a lovely weekend, and those of the Group who stayed in Firetail were very comfortable. There are a couple of very minor matters that need attention, one being a loose toilet roll holder that I understand had fallen off the wall, but one of the Group has told me that he has refixed it, but that might only be a temporary measure. There is also a leaky window in one of the rooms, but other than that all good.

Beautiful views. Wonderful and spacious deck for shade/sun on 3 sides and for outdoor eating. Quite cool on a very hot day. Bed reasonably comfortable. Comfortable lounges. Good facilities. We would stay there in the future. Ceiling fans would be useful to ease the need for air-conditioning.

A great place to stay, beautiful views down to Tarong power station, out to the darling downs, and the rainforest looking over to the tv aerials. Bird life at the house was great, feed king parrots, crimson rosella, sulphur crested cockatoos, white headed pigeon, plus the beautiful little firetail finches. Also had a very friendly Kookaburra, who liked steak off cuts, & liked to be patted. This house had beautiful very modern kitchen, with stone bench tops. We have been coming to the Bunyas for 30 years, but the 1st time in this house. Would recommend it anyone who wants a very relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of city & coast life.

We booked 3 nights at Firetail and had to stay just one more night! The house is situated near the end of the Estate on the range overlooking the valley on one side and the bush on the other side. The house was very well appointed with thoughtful inclusions like USB sockets and extra leads and power boards. (There never seems to be enough) The bed was very comfortable and there was nothing that we thought was left out for our comfort. TV and phone reception were fantastic. We had a lovely variety of birds visiting each day on the back verandah. From little Blue Wrens, Firetails, Cockatoos, King Parrots, Rosellas, Kookaburras, Bower birds, Currawongs, Crows and even Bush Turkeys. It is a great house to get away from it all and do nothing, or have some good walks amongst the Estate. It was fun to visit there during Bunya nut season too. We like to visit in every season and summer has it's very own appeal.

Excellent location with panoramic views. Terrific well-signed walking tracks. All staff encountered were welcoming, friendly & helpful. Abundant wildlife among spectacular ancient giants. Myriad of vegetation to catch visitors' attention. The National Parks Service does a superb job maintaining tracks with numerous signs to inform visitors of factual information. Daily visits from the local birds was an added experience that was truly memorable & such a delight. Tremendous weather. Take all the provisions you need as the general store offers the very basics. Cook & partake of dishes while taking in the priceless views. Firetail - clean; well equipped kitchen; appreciated the dishwasher as few houses appear to have one; great use of outdoor deck spaces; more than adequate doonas & blankets; fully functional air con appreciated; lots of firewood on hand; ... Highly recommend.

Beautiful sweeping views of the surrounding hills. Firetail is a great house and is fully set up with everything you need during your stay. The kitchen has all the utensils and cooking things you're likely to need. Lovely decks and everything in great condition. You don't even have to leave to enjoy the wildlife - wallabies, parrots and cockatoos pop in to see you. Highly recommended.

The accommodation was lovely but the service at the Tourist Office was less than efficient with a mistake on my email address for receipt and the incorrect charge on the deposit where we were told $100 over the listed price. The house and amenities were excellent and the views beautiful. There just needs to be more clarification on the charges for cleaning etc.
