Nice and quiet but couldn't get rid of the smell . Not a bad property ,the fireplace wS the best .But too overpriced for the standard . Needs a good clean especially in kitchen cupboards.

The views were spectacular! Nice and private.

Will return again to Cutters Rest in Bunya Mountains, great view across the Darling downs. The Milky Way gleams in the night sky so clear and close from the back deck. Everything that you will need is provided, just bring food, drink and linen. Sitting in front of the combustion stove drinking hot chocolate on a winters night is a special treat. Peaceful, utterly tranquil. Watch the trees dancing in the breeze as the local wallaby’s graze on the lawn to the sound of kookaburras laughter . Sit back and loose your self to a good book with a glass of good wine, with the aroma of a roast dinner cooking in the kitchen. Knowing a warm snuggly bed will hold you till morning.

Great place to stay!

Very cozy stay with a beautiful view and a cheery fireplace. Everything was clean and comfortable. Right next to the TV antennas so our reception was really good for hot spotting phones etc.

Cabin was perfectly equipped for our group, beautiful view, quiet and cosy. It was a bit further from the amenities so that is the trade off for the privacy. We loved our stay and hope to come back.

Great little spot, lovely relaxing view, really enjoyed the log fire.

The cottage is quite old but well equipped with lots of beds, cooking equipment, BBQ and firewood. The new deck provides an excellent view over the expansive plains to the south. There are two fridges and lots of space in the living room.

A lovely view from the large deck and the spacious lounge make this a relaxing stay. While a little dated, the house is comfortable and inviting. A short walk to Fishers' Lookout.

Lovely location with great views (although we were unlucky to be caught in the clouds!). House is adequate for space for a family but really needs updating and a thorough clean. Furniture is good and beds are comfortable.

Cutters Rest is a quirky old house with lovely views looking towards Belle and the horizon. We’ve stayed at peaceful Cutters many times it’s like stepping back in time and visiting your Grandparents home when you’re a kid. It has a large, well stocked kitchen that’s in need of sharp knives and a bottle opener. But then who doesn’t travel with their own box of trusted favourite kitchen utensils? The spacious bathroom has been renovated but has a toilet that needs to be coaxed to flush and can require ongoing encouragement during your stay. Sometimes the shower clogs and floods the bathroom, but this is quickly remedied by cleaning the accumulation of hair caught in the drain. The house’s closest neighbour is a small farm with cattle and chickens and rowdy roosters that add to the rural charm. The old house has a number of original, old sheds near the wood pile and a lean-too that I suspect once held old machines and tractors. They now provide shelter to a rather large carpet python and a transient echidna and many spiders but it all adds to the fun when collecting wood for the fire. Cutters Rest is exactly that, it’s quiet and peaceful. There’s clean air at 1000 meters above sea level, you’ll feel incredibly refreshed. There are a number of walking tracks very close to the house and there are many varieties of birds including cute little blue wrens that live in the trees nearby. Cutters Rest is a holiday you must do once.

What we liked about the property is that is was private and quiet. Lovely views from back deck. Nice grass lawn that we played croquet on. It is set apart from the main village area and a bit of a walk so might find you end up using your car. House is well equipped and comfortable. Fireplace is great, comfy couch, TV and good mobile reception. It's not super modern and bathroom a little disconnected from bedrooms but otherwise we were very happy with our stay.

The house was great for our needs. Plenty of room for our group of five. Not far from the main village and the different walks. Just a short Stroll to the lookout and gorgeous sunsets.

Cutters Rest is a tidy cabin with a well equipped kitchen and laundry and ample seating in the living and dining areas (dining table and lounge setting updated since the photos were posted on the website).

Good views. Owners and Bunya Mts Accomm were very responsive when we had a power trip and couldn't find the meter box. But the house needs some maintenance (e.g., drawers falling out, electrical outlets not working). Inexplicably, there are two full-size fridges, but no dishwasher. In the long term, this house needs to have an additional bathroom. One for 7 people - sweaty from the bushwalks - was inadequate. Also, a carport would seem essential. Overall, it was a relatively cheap 3-night stay, but I don't think we got value-for-money.

Fantastic. One of the most relaxing and peaceful weekends we’ve had in a long time. Comfortable bed, great views, friendly wildlife, no neighbours. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic view to the valley, cosy stay, however property is quite dated and needs a thorough spruce up.

While the property was in the ideal location with stunning views and the yard itself was fairly well maintained, albeit the veranda could have been cleaned / blowed down, the house itself needs some serious TLC. The property didn't seem to have been opened in sometime, with a rather unpleasant odour hitting you in the face when we opened the door. As much as we tried to air the place out, this was present for the entire 3 day stay. The ceiling in the lounge room requires repairs, as there is evidence of rain damage, which has resulted in the panel having holes, mould and falling down. We noted, that one of the fire alarms was also not present over the bathroom door. We went to use the toaster and it appeared that it hadn't been emptied or cleaned, resulting in a large amount of burnt toast and crumbs still in the toaster. Hoping the owners might invest in some time, to address the issues. Thanking you, Sharon & Brian

Cutter's rest was a great little cottage away from the main village but with easy access to the various beautiful bushwalks. The fireplace was a great addition to keep the house warm and cozy! Awesome views from the deck and a short walk to fishers lookout.

Cutters Rest has an amazing view, the deck was very relaxing. The lounge was huge and kitchen well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was large. Was very quiet with local birds visiting for scrapes.

Very poor, very disappointing. I left after one night because this property is not in a fit state to be rented out. There is a gaping hole in the middle of the lounge room ceiling, extensive black mold on the ceilings in the kitchen/laundry/lounge, cobwebs in every room, a random broken fridge in the living area, only 1 bar heater (and the fireplace is ineffective because of the hole in the ceiling), no wood or kindling inside the house, the kitchen cupboards, drawers and utensils were grotty, two blown light bulbs in the living area and no lamps so it is very dark and dingy, the kitchen is ill-equipped (ancient gas stove, no pantry, mismatched crockery, only 1 wineglass etc etc), internal door knobs missing, no doormats, no welcome note/house information (but extensive cleaning instructions) etc etc. I have stayed in four other houses at Bunya Mountains and they have all been lovely. This is a dump that needs a renovation, deep clean and new fittings and fixtures. This place is a complete rip-off.

Cutters rest has a wonderful view of the Darling Downs. Waking up in the morning and sitting on the deck watching day break and listening to nature was wonderful and relaxing. Cutters rest had enough space for my family of 4 and everyone had an area to go if overwhelmed. The kitchen was easy to use. Having 2 fridges was handy especially for our bottled water. Cutters rest is not far from Fishers look out and that was an incredible view at Sunset and the bike tracks. Bunya Mountains National Park is not far from the accommodation office where there are some beautiful walks. Poppies on the Hill is a great place for lunch and the Bunya Mountain Tavern across the road was awesome for dinner too. Next time might just bring back the hubby for a romantic weekend. 😉

Great place with heaps of open space outside. Nice, comfortable and relaxing.

Cutters rest has become our favourite place to stay. Plenty of room for the family. Great views. Very comfortable and well appointed with everything you could need.

Unfortunately, a huge disappointment for us. We've stayed at the Bunyas on several occasions, as have family members, and have enjoyed a range of differing types of accommodation, always fun and comfortable. We chose Cutters Rest this time for the view and for the private location, which didn't disappoint. The house, sadly, has an air of neglect, despite a newish bathroom. No frills. No love shown. We felt uneasy there, and could not recommend it at all. There are many comfortable, welcoming homes available for the same cost.
Michele Nunn
Wonderful stay! Office staff more than helpful. House had everything we could need.

Overall we were happy with our stay. Big lounge area with TV and fireplace was great and we spent alot of time realxing here. Beds were okay and the doonas were nice and warm. Bathroom and Kitchen were fine and adequate kitchen equipment for cooking with plenty of fridge and freezer space. Our biggest complaint was the lack of spider control. They were everywhere throughout the house and we spent the first 30-60mins going through and killing all spiders and removing webs. That wasnt so good. Once done though we had no other issues with the property.

A great space to unwind and relax. Pretty much everything needed to stay although extra fans and extension leads to position would help during summer. A great outlook and views, plenty of cooking equipment. The wildlife is fantastic and just watch out for the kamikaze wallabies which dart all over the place We were hoping for a nice storm over the darling downs sadly it went a different direction so no photo opertunity. Plenty of firewood (although we did not need it) While this is an older place it is very comfortable and plenty of space.
Peter Roche
Superb views!!! Unfortunately that’s it, everything else about this property is tired, old and needs replacing. We wouldn’t book it again.

This house has a great view and is very private. It was clean and tidy and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Very disappointed this time. The property needs some serious maintenance. I will be sending my detailed feedback to the owners and the managers about what I think. However, it is very disturbing to be charged full amount and not receive the service/experience you paid for.

A lovely little cottage with a nice view.

Cutter’s Rest is one of our favourite houses on the mountain. Don’t be deceived by the look of the old house, as everything you need is provided in the up to date kitchen and the modernised bathroom. The views are always lovely but are particularly breathtaking in the afternoon as the sun sinks and shadows get longer across the plains. The only interruption to the serenity is the chirps of the blue wrens and the lowing of the neighbours dairy cows. The TV gets excellent reception, there’s a DVD player and the couch is enormous and super comfy. The wood fire keeps the house warm as you snuggle in one of the 6 beds. Enough room for mum, dad, the kids and Grandma and Pop. Once you’re sick of relaxing, There’s heaps of nature walks and historical sites to explore. You’ve choices of cafes and restaurants in the local village or short drives in either direction down the mountain reveals local pubs, cafes and convenience stores all with great meals and bottled pantry items created from locally grown and sourced produce.

This was our second stay at Cutter's Rest the first time was about 27 years ago and I must say that the house now needs a lot of work. The comments in your 19/20 accommodation booklet did not live up to my expectations. The bedrooms I don't think have been recently refurbished, the kitchen is not a gourmet kitchen, the fireplace is very old and does not heat the house up very well. It is not working to its capacity, (we know this as we have a similar fireplace as my husband built the prototype when he was employed at barbeque's galore). The house could do with mats at the entry doors. It does not have leather lounges and there are several safety issues. I do love going to Bunya Mountains but I think that this place really needs a lot of work if you want people returning. I was going to cook a cake in the gourmet kitchen but it didn't even have a cake tin. Also a lot of the cooking pans need replacing they are very old and greasy. The one thing I did like is the view. That has not changed

We thought it would be a great place to stay. The kitchen isn't very big and had no place to put our pantry food. Beautiful floorboards but not sealed so the wind blew right up through them and made us even colder. There was a smell of mould or rotting timber near the dinning room, and the lounges were a little uncomfortable. The shower had great pressure and was lovely to have with plenty of heat. We will be back to try another Chalet.

Was a lovely quiet break for our family. Thanks to the friendly staff for the warm welcome. Love visiting the Bunyas and will definitely come back for another getaway!

We loved our weekend at Cutter’s rest. The couch was amazing for all of us to sit and relax on as a family. The view was spectacular!

Lovely views, Great location, wallabies everywhere! Amazing sunset 2mins from the house to walk to The best viewing deck

Really enjoyed my stay, beautiful time of year to visit. Accommodation was very comfortable, cosy, well appointed, affordable and had a fantastic view. Loved watching the wallabies and superb fairy wrens on the property, also only a short stroll to Fisher’s Outlook.

Great things about cutter's rest: - beautiful setting - fireplace (if you know how to get it going) - Bunya mountains waking trails and cafe nearby. Room for improvement - the accommodation is very cold! Fireplace is lovely IF you know how to get it going/manage it. There is no other heating option and with 3 children under 4 during our visit it was extremely uncomfortable. In fact our infant didn't sleep all night as he was so cold and we couldn't keep him warm. I'd suggest installing a heater as a back up to the fireplace. This really impacted negatively on our visit. - no linen. We brought our own linen and towels as instructed but this really detracts from the experience. Arriving after a day long drive with our family, only to have to do the work of making 6 beds! Not to mention the washing when we got home. We'd happily pay a bit more on the daily tariff to have linen provided.
