Beautiful small cabin in lovely spot. Take some quality wild bird seed for lots of visitors.

Lovely private property. Good for couples.

What a great place to spend a few days. A beautiful cottage set amidst the trees with the resident bush turkey appearing in the morning to eat all the bird seed I had left out for the king parrots. The fireplace was an added bonus and was well used during our stay. Given we had a couple of nights around 1 degree celsius the hot showers were also fabulous.

We love staying at Bunya Trees! The loft bedroom and floor to ceiling windows at the rear are our favourite parts of the property. My young daughters love hand-feeding the various types of birds throughout the day, and leave fruit scraps out in the evening to entice the possum family to visit. This was our second stay in 8 months and will be booking again next year. This will be one of our annual holiday destinations for years to come.

The Bunya Mountains is a beautiful place to visit, very relaxing atmosphere
Ann Lawler
An amazing getaway for a few days. Loved the serenity, connecting with nature, the birdsong & cheeky parrots, the views, misty mountains, giant Bunya Pines & free roaming wallabies. The Bunyas are soul restoring!
Keely Dowling
Was extremely cozy and very pretty underneath the trees.

We had a beautiful week staying in Bunya Trees. Lots of birds visiting the deck where the bird feeder is, including King Parrots, Crimson Rosellas, Bowerbirds, Currawongs, Cocktatoos, brush turkeys, red-browned Finches, Catbirds and couple of possums. It is lovely and private with views of the trees surrounding the house. A lovely and cosy house with the fireplace. We would love to stay again.

Such a beautiful atmosphere the minute you enter the town. After two days it felt like we had been there for a week we felt so at ease and comfortable in our accommodation and the community. The cabin was simple, charming and comfortable and the amount of wild life we saw was incredible. It was quite overcast when we were there so we didn't get to witness the stars however it's a great excuse to go back!

Love staying at the Bunya Mountains. Such a beautiful place. So peaceful and relaxing. The houses are all wonderful (we've stayed in about 6 different houses over many years) and it is so great for the kids to see wallabies and all the different birds. They love feeding the birds and doing bush walks in the beautiful terrain.
Annemarie Cellers
The cottage was well appointed and comfortable for our 3 night stay. As is expected for cottages it was not pristine but we were not expecting that is should be. It is very well equipped with all amenities needed. Will definitely be back.
Daphne Berry
We loved the location, the cute cottage is in a beautiful setting, but it does need a very good make over.

Having most of the accommodation in the bunyas on one site is probably an easier way of handling bookings. There is an issue for people arriving on motorbikes when all the heavy linen has to be carted to the accommodation and also getting the rubbish to the bins at end of the stay. Having to make up and strip beds I also found a pain I am afraid to say! Confusing when the 'what to bring' list includes toilet paper, washing up liquid etc etc and it was actually in the house for us. Being on a bike and having to carry all those extra things is inconvenient. Ice trays in the freezer ready to use on arrival would be helpful too.

We really enjoyed how the house sits in the forest. The grounds are wonderful to explore and it is very private. Coming into the house the bank of windows on the back wall are amazing. We had a particularly muddy walk one day and missed having a washing machine.

Loved our stay. We especially loved the houses location to the bush with wonderful vista's from windows. The addition of air con and dishwasher would be great. We thought it offered value for money and will definately come back.

By and large a very pleasant and enjoyable weekend. Thankyou. A couple of things that could have improved it: no DVD player; the bottom room was musty so we slept in the loft. The loft is nicer and would benefit from a queen bed. The front door hinges need some WD40 as a bit squeeky. Some salt in the salt shaker. But overall it was a lovely weekend away for my wife and I. Thankyou.

Bunya Mountains is indeed a special and peaceful place. Bunya Trees accommodation is a private, little cottage hidden away in its own forest. Has everything you need to make it a great base for exploring the area without breaking the bank. Comfortable bed and great wood burner. Birds abound. This is my second visit. Just don't park under the Bunya Trees when the nuts are falling !!!
Fritha Fleischfresser
We had a fabulous time at Bunya Mountains. The two night stay gave us plenty of time to look around the area and choose the walks we wanted to do as well as find things for next time. The house we had was cosy and tucked into the rainforest for the full experience.
Geoff Sullivan
Very relaxing and well set up. Enjoyed an electrical storm one morning and thick fog the next. Walks were good especially after rain with the creeks running well. Facilities are good re restaurants, office admin and picnic areas
Michael Gadd
We had the most amazing experience at the Bunya Trees. Beautiful place and abundant in animal and bird life. Very peaceful and quiet. Will be recommending it to my friends for sure.

I love Bunya Mountains! We go every year and try to stay in a different house each time. The accomodation girls are amazing too.

A beautiful spot for birdwatching and a rich history pre-European settlement

Enjoyed our stay, house is basic but clean and warm. Bed was comfortable.

Our time at the Bunya Mountains is always wonderful. The huge Bunya trees overlooking you whilst you walk around the village and on the trails are breathtaking and the views are just magical. We have stayed twice now. Our first time we stayed at Brindavan, and this time Bunya Trees, both accommodation were relaxing, quiet, clean and amongst the wildlife which is exactly what you need when on a little get away.
Mike & Jan Hutcheson
Overall, the two days there were fabulous. Wildlife, walking tracks and Poppies were great. The house location was good. Surrounded by rainforest was terrific. The only things we needed to hire, were the linen and towels. The owners provided the rest, which was nice. As it was our anniversary getaway,it was the best we've had in 38 years! We shall certainly be returning to Bunya to enjoy more of the scenery, walks and different houses, either by ourselves or with friends.
Julie Tasker
A lovely little house with everything you need. Wonderful to be so close to the birds.
Krystina Hanson
If you're travelling with great people and can get past the ageing decor, then this place is enjoyable as there's a great log fire and we had that running most of the time we were there. It was a birthday surprise for my boyfriend, and I was naturally quite disappointed arriving at this property as it felt very unloved. We did have the beautiful birds handfeed from us on our final morning which was truly special.

Bunya Trees was comfortable and the fire kept us very cosy. However it is extremely tired and worn and shabby. The downstairs bedroom desperately needs a new curtain. The ceiling cobwebs are dreadful. It really needs a good spruce up. Clean, level road base car park provision and entrance to the house needs to be provided.
Johannes Oosthuizen
We love the place and will book again at Bunya Trees.
Susan Moore
My time at Bunya Trees cabin in the Bunya Mountains was very relaxing and peaceful. The cabin was nestled among the forest trees and full of wonderful bird life. Although it felt isolated, the village was just a short drive away where I had a great coffee and meal. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Bunya Mountains to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing retreat from the every day.
Margaret Woods
Awesome in the bunyas as usual
Christopher Whittall
This is a quiet and private property with birdlife in the surrounding "bush". It is a good size for a couple to stay. Vehicles have to be parked under the trees on the rough track entry.
Lorelei Doyle
Absolutely loved this secluded little house and would definitely stay there again. Was set back a bit off the road surrounded by forests which is what a perfect getaway is all about!!!
Graham Jackson
Bunya Trees was a lovely get away for a couple of days... Nice and quiet, and value for money.
Neelmani Crouch
My friend and I loved our visit. Cabin was clean and warm (thanks to firewood) Cooking facilities and cutlery good. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Lovely stay. Beautiful weather.

We had just the most amazing stay! The house and location was beautiful, I would highly recommend Bunya Trees to any avid bird watchers or people looking for a peaceful escape from reality.
Lyn Hampson
We had a wonderful time, always at Bunya Mountains.
Carol O’Leary
Bunya Trees cottage was delightful! The cottage was clean and tidy with all that you need in the kitchen by way of crockery and cutlery, microwave, large fridge, toaster and kettle. The beds were comfortable with doona, pillows and extra blankets provided. The Bunya Mountains national park has beautiful rainforest walking trails. I highly recommend Bunya Trees cottage and look forward to visiting again sometime in the future.
Linda Richards
I had a very lovely time in the Bunya Mountains, met up with friends for a bit of tree hugging, bird watching, some vigorous hiking and then relaxing with an excellent coffee and bunya nut scones at Poppies.
Kathleen and Philip Rogers
Always a pleasant stay, comfortable and quiet.
roger buzacott
Road 20 metres away, phone/internet 100 metres away, but otherwise you could be a thousand miles away from anywhere. What an ideal rainforest retreat getaway!
Braedon Lawrence
Cute. Little property loved it just informing you that it looks like water damage in the roof if you could let the owner know befor it gets to bad
Melissa Wicks
This was my first time to Bunya Mountains, and I absolutely loved my time there. Bird and animal life were in abundance. Listening to the continual bird symphony in the forest and at our accommodation was a joy. I loved the walking the tracks in the mountains. Very picturesque. Our accommodation under the bunya trees was rustic and met for our needs. The staff at the Accommodation Centre were friendly and helpful. We treated ourselves to a meal at Poppies On The Hill and it was delicious. It was lovely being able to choose items on the menu containing bunya nuts.
Kylie Rowland
Bunya Tree's is a beautiful little cottage, clean and tidy... Bed was comfortable. Absolutely loved our stay here and can't wait to come back
Ben Love
The Bunya Mountains exceeded my expectations. It was a very special visit.
Cecilia Wearmouth
It felt like you were enveloped by nature, the fire kept the house lovely and warm
Philip Haynes
Quaint cottage but old and tired and needs cleaning. No washing machine, drier or dishwasher. Located in the rainforest so no outlook and quite dark. Good wood stove with plenty of firewood.
Sophie Ricato
9 to 12 June 2024 To be honest, this was quite a disappointing property to stay in. The pictures are pretty different to what you actually get when you arrive... My partner and I have been coming to the Bunya Mountains for years, but this accommodation is under-maintained and underwhelming. First and most importantly, there’s a mice infestation in the walls that you can hear running around and squeaking during the night. The exterior of the house was tired and dusty and didn't give the best first impression when we arrived considering the light and bright pictures of the listing. The house internally was relatively clean, but there were cobwebs on the roof and walls, and the outside veranda areas looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The nature surrounding the house is overgrown to a point where the trees are constantly scratching the metal roof and there's maybe 1 hour of natural sunlight during the day. The bathroom smelt like mould and had some on the walls above the shower from poor ventilation, and the tank water is yellow, so we had to boil it each time we wanted to drink! I’ve put off reviewing this property for a while because we were so disappointed, and I don’t usually post negative reviews anywhere. We passed on our feedback to the main accommodation centre who were very kind and have passed this onto the owner. We won’t be coming back to this property, however.
Joanna Horan-Barrick
This house was in a lovely quiet location surrounded by rainforest. Lay out was nice and we enjoyed our stay. Only negative would be that the house was very dusty with cobwebs and dead insects in the windowsills. The deck was covered in bird droppings. A good clean would make it amazing. Love the bunyas and always enjoy going back.
Anthony Smith
This house is old and tired. It is in dire need of a really good clean. Curtains are shabby and have holes in them. However the worst thing of all was the brown water from the tank - I believe that this should be addressed as a matter of urgency!! Give the whole place a refresh and put up some recent pictures. Overall we would not stay here again.

This is my third visit to Bunya Trees. I love the quaintness and being amongst the trees is excellent for birdwatching. It is also very private and nice and homely. Comfortable beds and lovely dining area. Great for a couple or single traveller.
Brad Morford
We had a beautiful experience for the weekend at Bunya Trees. It was our anniversary, and it was the perfect way to celebrate, a cabin in the rainforest, trees out of every window. A warm fire, and parrots on the balcony. Moonlight shining through the picture window. No internet to distract us, just rekindle and be grateful for each other. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
Fleur Carter
We stayed January 2025 and it was perfect! Easy to find, really clean, great location, kitchen well equipped. The cottage is actually in the rainforest itself which was perfect for us as we had birds all around the cottage. Definitely none of the issues that had been mentioned in previous reviews. There was just two of us but would still be comfortable for 4. Lovely and cool even in early January didn't even need a fan at night. Would definitely choose to stay here again. Having a powerpoint close to the driveway to charge an electric vehicle would make it perfect though and we'd be more than happy to pay for the power.
Irene Rossic
Yes, the place is in need of a little TLC, but the beds are comfortable enough and the bird life is amazing... my second time staying here and love being able to hand feed king parrots and rosellas as well as watch the other multitude of wildlife that visit. Such a secluded, relaxing spot.
Kathryn Gerrits
The Bunya Mountains are lovely and a visit is highly worthwhile. We booked ‘Bunya Trees’ for two nights. The booking process itself is unnecessarily complicated but otherwise fine. However the accommodation itself was dreadful - the place smells of mould, the facilities are totally worn, the floor and handrails were dirty all is dated, the house is difficult to access with all the plant growth in front. On the plus side, the birds on the back balcony were great, albeit they, and we, were harassed by a bush turkey.
Anne Golding-Ross
A cute, well-designed cottage. Small, but the verandas are great and there are lots of windows to view the bush and animals. Improvements suggested: Pillows need replacing - very uncomfortable. Top floor bedroom very stuffy - windows need to be able to open and skylight propped open to improve ventilation.
Christine Cornish
Beautiful area of Qld. The bush walks were lovely and peaceful. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. We’ll come again.

I have already written a recipes and seen the 2 star rating on the Bunya Trees website. I have also received a reply email from Bunya Mountains Accommodation which detailed the issue I raised with MICE being in the house and your casual reply when I phoned the office that you have a mice problem and quote: there are millions of mice in the area. You also offered to hire/loan a mouse trap but as the managers you won’t do anything. There was no mention of any program to combat the mice problem like trap setting etc, which you did say in your email reply. There was no signs or details left in the house or on any of your emails confirming our payment. I also alerted you to the issue that there is no lot number displayed anywhere on the property to which you said when I called to complain it was hard to identify the house because of this, that this is the responsibility of the owner and quote: we have told them a million times to fix this.
John Benett
Several issues. Comfortable. Space ok for two. There are mice in the house and the office won’t do anything about it except if you wish they can give you a mouse trap to use yourself which clearly indicates they know mice are present but don’t say anything in advance.

Always the most perfect place to visit....the stay is never long enough. Our little cottage was very rustic but very cosy. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 We’ll be back!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

Bunya Mountains is a spectacular location and we really enjoyed our stay. Bunya Trees is a cute cabin nestled in the trees (lots of birds & wallabies paid us a visit). It is hard to find as there is no street number in front of the property.
Julia Theron
Lovely secluded cottage as promised. Excellent location and great for bird watching. Very comfortable but needs a good dusting as many cobwebs in the house. Kitchen well equiped except for wine glasses.
Dani Buchanan
Beautiful location and charming cottage let down a bit by being quite dated and not clean. Furniture needs to be recovered or replaced. Rugs need to be replaced. Cobwebs brushed down and floors cleaned properly. Despite this we loved the place and wouldn't want the character of the cottage to change at all.

A beautiful cozy hideaway surrounded by the bunya trees. Total privacy here. The place appeared a bit tired and some work with the paint brush will do wonders. I would definitely return to this abode.
Diana Sayer
We loved the whole experience of the Bunya Mountains. Accommodation was great and the walks through the rainforest were awe inspiring. I can't wait to go back.
Suhailah Ali
We loved our time at Bunya Trees; it was a cosy little house, especially with the fireplace (and lots of firewood provided), and we had plenty of bird visitors on our balcony!
Alicia Munoz
Lovely little house set in beautiful rainforest surrounds. Very basic but had everything we needed. Kids loved the visits from the various birds during the day, as well as a family of possums at night. No one wanted to leave, and a week later they’re still asking to go back. Will definitely be rebooking this home again in the near future. Only negative is that it was hard to find the house in the dark. No number or sign at the driveway, but that added to the adventure!

Amazing place to stay. So quiet and relaxing. Wild life are very friendly. Lots of different birds to spot. Highly recommend.
Sam Marston
We had a lovely couple of days staying at Bunya Trees. The house is gorgeous. We had everything we could possibly need including beautiful weather . The bird life was spectacular and the silence was golden. We will definitely be back. The Bunya tavern was fantastic- could not fault the food and the staff were so nice and very accommodating. Thank you
Tori M
Nice house if one is looking for privacy and to be amongst the rainforest.

There is no sign at the front of the property so finding it was difficult as it is set behind trees. The internal floor tiles are grubby and cracked in one place. The bathroom is very dated, with cheap, old fittings. No shelf to place shower gel and shampoo etc. in shower recess. Toilet height more suited to children. Kitchen tidy has no lid and is dirty. Kitchen drawers were shabby, utensils - tongs etc need replacing as they are broken. No curtains in downstairs bedroom. The bed was so hard we had sore backs and the bed head is really uncomfortable. Not sure how long ago the mattress was washed, but it needs replacing. Fortunately we bought all our own bedding, including doona and pillows. Dustpan and brush almost unusable. Light bulbs need replacing. Clock in kitchen needs new battery. Barbecue looked greasy, not enticing to use. Overall the place is shabby and needs a freshen-up.

Great location. Lovely and private.

Cute little cottage nestled inside the forest. Initially couldn't find it because the driveway was obscure with no signage and the house hidden from the street. The lack of curtains in the downstairs bedroom was unnerving. The house as a whole was drab, on the dirty side and not maintained well. For $170 a night I expected much better than this and was disappointed. The house would've been fine had it been clean and maintained better. I won't stay again.

Loved the Bunya Mtns. Not so much the accommodation we had. Bunya Trees needs a lot of maintenance. No curtains/blinds on any windows so was very cold and the fireplace couldnt warm it up. The water was very discoloured so had to use bottled water. Tank was covered in rubbish. Dont think floor had ever been washed. Stove didn't work properly. Only 1 coil got hot. Lounge chairs were very old and dirty. Axe/splitter was so blunt it bounced off the wood so couldnt cut any for the fire. Had to source kindling from the bush around the house.

Delightful setting and overall very comfortable with a nice bed. There were a few things that would be better if improved or fixed: There was virtually no instructions for any thing: the TV, the wood heater, the cooker, microwave. There was no ABC TV. While I recognise that it is down in a hollow, a taller arial could be a fix since it is so close to the transmitter. The largest ring on the cooktop didn't work. Up-high inside cleaning needs attention.

This was our second time at the Bunya Trees, and was hoping they put a comfortable lounge in this time, but with unfortunately they didn't. To sit by the fire with a nice comfortable lounge would of been far more relaxing. The two chairs was a let down again. Apart from that it was lovely, but we will book the Wren next time for comfort.

We loved our stay at Bunya Trees. From the beautiful drive up the mountains, the quick and friendly checkout and then the arrival at the s clouded property was easy and made for a great start to our short break. The accomodation was clean, well equipped and quiet. It was perfect for us. We would stay again.

The place is in poor condition with timber rot and a damp smell , there is also a strong smell of sewerage from the septic tank . The shower and the water pump offer little flow or control of the temp going from very hot to cold . Given the location in the mountains with frequent rain showers the lack of a washing machine and dryer in particular is appalling. In summary the house is a poor experience and it only gets a 1 because its in the Bunya Mountains. I would not recommend it to anyone. It doesn t even represent good value for money even though it may be cheaper as its in such poor overall condition.

"Bunya Trees" is a lovely older house, totally surrounded by rain forest. The drive way is a bit rough, especially for a car with low clearing. We loved the two balconies. The house was wonderful clean. The living area (one room) is nice and comfy. Kitchen has everything one needs. A glass door (no curtain!) leads from the living area into one bedroom (large double bed, lots of blankets) - a plain metal rack (with 10 wire hangers) substitutes as a wardrobe! The 2 large windows are very naked - no curtains or blinds, the room feels lake a store room. But nice view into the forest in the morning! The bedroom in the loft LOOKS nice, just a big double bed and a rocking chair, but no wardrobe or anything to put things - lots of floor space!!! - no bedside tables, no bedside lamp or light switch, if you get up at night looking for the light switch you might drop down the stairs before you find it. For two people (like us) the house is perfect, four people !? - it's on the smallish side and as good as no privacy apart from in the bathroom (toilet). But still we will come again, the location is priceless, shouldn't say that it's expensive enough! Would give it 3 1/2 out of 5

Thank you for the wood for the fire 🔥 we arrived in the dark in the pouring rain and we couldn’t find entrance even though the lovely lady at reception explained would stay again it was the most wonderful place 😃

Everything was perfect except I think the furniture in the lounge room was outdoor furniture so it wasn't very comfortable. Other than that the stay was great!

very enjoyable stay, but I think it was furnished with outdoor furniture, and it wasn't overly comfortable would also benefit from ceiling fans . other than that, a really lovely place in a beautiful setting

The service and attitude of the reservation team was excellent & we loved the environment of Bunya Mountains. The property we stayed whilst quaint does need some work. A few lights had blown, the bathroom sink was blocked (my partner cleared it), the beds (mattresses) do need to be upgraded the furniture was ordinary, the outdoor deck was quite grubby and one of the outdoor deck chairs was broken

We enjoyed our stay at Bunya Trees, very quiet and private cottage. Loved feeding the birds.

Bunya Trees is my new favourite place on Earth. A gorgeous little cabin, set back from the road, surrounded by trees and filled with fresh air and birdsong. The loft bedroom is what sold me on the place initially, and it did not disappoint. I almost cried when I left! Everything was fresh and clean and well maintained, and staff/check-in/check-out was perfect and hassle free. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Excellent stay at Bunya Trees. Some of the sliding doors and windows need repairs to the latches. Coat hangers would have been handy.
