Bowen House was a magic pace to stay. While nothing can override the disappointment with the lack of wallabies and king parrots, the rest of the place is as good as ever. That you, staff.

Lovely accommodation. We stayed there as a couple but I think it is definitely set up for one or two more people to really bring it to life. It is big enough to allow everyone their own space with the main upstairs living area perfect for cosey group dinners. The indoor/ outdoor cooking area downstairs would be great for pizzas or bbq. The place was spotless and we were very grateful for the tea towels and dish washing liquid - things we forgot to bring. Would definitely recommend buying a bag of feed for the birds on the balcony but be prepared for some squabbling at feeding time. We had a very bold little blue and red chap who alternated between feeding directly from our hand and chasing the others away from the little piles we'd put out for them.

We had a wonderful time at our recent stay at the Bunya Mountains! Bowen House sits on an acre of grassy lawn and tall trees which the wallabies and bird life regularly visited. The house itself is large and accommodated three couples very comfortably. We enjoyed the big lounge by the fire upstairs and playing pool downstairs - however this area didn't have a heater which made it quite chilly. While the house is a bit dated and requires some maintenance, overall it was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again :)

Lovely spacious chalet great for relaxing with a game of pool or visit to the sauna.

A beautiful home, great to have the pool table area and living areas are so spacious for the family. Disappointed in the cleanliness though. The place needs a good thorough clean. For this reason I would hesitate booking here again. Which is a shame as it’s such a great property!

What a great house. We were 2 couples and it was ideal. Plenty of room, all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay, surrounded by wildlife, plenty of birds to feed. Would love to come back in winter. My only criticism is that the pool table needs a service so the balls run true…….or maybe it was our playing! All in all, a great place to stay that we are happy to highly recommend.

Loved the house, the place and the views. Just wish we could have used to deck area more and sat outside out there at the table but couldn’t as it was falling to pieces. Sauna was great!!

Such a beautiful serene spot with loads of wildlife! Loved our time at the Bowen House and I would definitely recommend it to others.

We enjoyed a lovely get away to the Bunya Mountains staying at Bowen House. The house was one of those wow moments. It had everything we needed and then more. Loved the spa and pool table as well as the beautiful big bay-window area. Family are busily trying to work out how they can come back and enjoy it with friends. A special mention must be made to the wonderful and very helpful staff at the Bunya Mountains Accommodation Centre.

Its was nice and capacious house equipped with all facilities.

This was probably a magnificent property once, but unfortunately the photos are somewhat dated, and the house is showing it’s age. Having said that it was very well equipped with everything you needed. The pool table was good fun, and the position of the house within walking distance to the cafés and National Park was also good. Unfortunately the spa has been disconnected and we didn’t try the sauna.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bunya Mountains. The property was well equipped and made the most of the gorgeous land with lovely large windows. The pool table and sauna were a great hit with the whole family and ensured there was always plenty to keep you busy. I would suggest getting the spa bath running- the guest book comments indicate it has been out of action for years, and it would really complete the whole getaway experience. The property needs a very thorough deep clean, there are lots of cobwebs about. My husband and I loved having our morning coffee out on the deck with beautiful king parrots and Rosella's joining us to enjoy their fresh seed . We will definitely come back to Bunya for a longer time in the near future

Awesome, place plenty of space and such a good vibe. Hidden within the trees, with native birds and quietness it's truly amazing.

Beautiful house. Kitchen was clean and was fully stocked with lots of utensils. Little bit disappointing about the mould on the wall in the second room upstairs (can understand the climate up there but wouldn’t take much to spray and wipe before guests arrive). The upstairs shower also leaks and pools water in between the basin and shower. Over all was a good experience

We stayed for two nights, the house was amazing the staff were very helpful. It was a loverly break, and a loverly spot.
Brenda Hadley
Had a great stay at Bowen House. Plenty of room for 6 people. Everything you need in the kitchen, extra blankets etc. Great fire kept us warm and cosy. A bit more effective heating would have been good in the pool room though.
Lisa Dunham
This is our second visit to Bowen House, once in spring and now once in winter. We love its spaciousness for our adult family and its beautiful glass-windowed lounge area. The kitchen is well stocked for a self-catering holiday. Many laughs were had around the pool table and bar. Great to have the option of roaring log fire or air conditioning.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 night stay at Bowen House. It was extremely pleasant watching the birds on the deck. The deck was in need of repair as was the table on deck. This wasn't a concern for us as we spent a lot of time in lounge with its lovely fireplace.
Barrie Spring
We have been to the Bunyas many times over the last 25 years and have stayed at Bowen House a couple of times previously. First visit for our friends who enjoyed the walks and abundant birdlife. The interior of the house was generally clean and well appointed. The outside deck was badly in need of maintenance/ rebuilding in sections and needed cleaning. Was a shame as we were unable to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Andrew Wild
Loved Bowen house, heaps of room, fabulous deck and downstairs bar, will stay again thanks
Dennis Bilas
It was pleasure to stay in Bowen House. My family love beautiful views from the window, nice relaxing sauna and pool table. Definitely we will be back.
Donna Gibson
A lovely property but could do with a bit of TLC. There’s a great range of crockery and cooking pans etc in the kitchen. Having an extra fridge downstairs in the games area is great! Plenty of bird life visit all day - the addition of a bird book and maybe bino’s (we had our own) would be awesome. Lots of games and dvds, you could never be bored. The pool table got plenty of use during our stay.
Amanda Nichols
We had a great time at the Bunya Mountains, the weather was good not too hot or cold. The accommodation was good also plenty of space in the house and private with trees around the house.
Christina Warren
House setting is absolutely beautiful - very private and the abundant wildlife made our stay amazing.
Tanya Winkel
Beautiful property, peaceful surroundings. Large home with loads of character and excellent facilities and activities for the family; large fully equipped kitchen & laundry, supply of board games, tennis racquets etc. Staff were lovely, we would love to come back!
Brigid McKechnie
Hi, we love Bowen House and have stayed there before but found that house maintenance was a bit lacking this time.
Michelle Kapurzhanov
Very secluded. Plenty of room. The wood in the home is beautiful. Basic home is good, but a shame that air-conditioners (unit motors) are poorly located and so loud that you need ear plugs to sleep in main bedroom. Upstairs bathroom also leaking badly, while I had to thoroughly clean walls, shelves and doors of wardrobe of main bedroom (including removing mould) in order to use. This is disappointing when you arrive for a rest—cleaning needs to be more thorough in general, including the many, large windows. Pool cues also need replacing. That said, we still love our annual pilgrimage to the beautiful BM.
Volha Shatalava
The house is hidden inside the trees and has no view of the mountains or the valley. It is very large, lots of space inside, but limited area to play outside, not very convenient for families with children. Our stay was in July, the coldest time. The ground floor of the house is practically not heated, with the exception of the bedroom, where air conditioning is installed. The entire recreation area, billiard room, bar was icy, which made it difficult to spend enough time there. In my opinion, it would be helpful to install a fireplace on the lower floor, which would warm it up and extend to the upper floor. Or simply install air conditioner downstair, it will help on winter time. Chose this place because of the presence of a pool table, but very disappointed. Of the three playing cues, two were without a tip. There were six of us and we had to share one cue. Please fix this. There was not a single working frying pan in the kitchen, all three were scratched and burn food. We had to use BBq for frying. The additional toilet on the second floor is not usable. Spa tub is disabled. This spa would be a nice addition to the sauna there. Sauna works great! The windows in the seating area of the second floor very dirty and prevent such an amazing view . It will be useful to add to the house description availability of a coffee machine with the name of the brand, so that visitors can bring the right sachets and enjoy quality coffee at any time. In general: I do not recommend this house for a stay in the winter, as well as for families with children. Little space outside for games, and very far/inconvenient to get to the cafe, had to drive.
Kerri Borger
Bowen House was stunning to stay at. Our only feedback was being disappointed to find a full unemptied dishwasher when we arrived, as well as the toilet in the laundry not working. We were also disappointed that the spa was unavailable. The time taken to refund our bond is also disappointing - it comes out of our bank straight away and we are still waiting, even though we had prepaid for our accommodation prior to arriving. Otherwise the house is extremely well set up for a wonderful stay and spacious.
Jenny Gardner
Beautiful house! The layout is perfect - loved the large glass windows. We had an amazing time.
Alison Gibbons
Bowen House was well set out, plenty of room and well equipped. Good location, private and an easy walk to the cafe.
Denise Dale
Beautiful house in a secluded spot on top of the hill. The house is well equipped for cooking. Great house for a group. The pool table and sauna are a plus.
Jo Moore
This was a great house for a family with adult children. Plenty of space to spend time together playing pool, doing puzzles and playing boardgames but with two living areas we could also spread out and get some quiet time too. Easy walk down to the village for a morning coffee or a hike. This house felt special, and we loved our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bunya Mountains and particularly Bowen House with the exception of a few things. We only had 2 nights booked so really only had one full day at the house. On this day the power was out from 8.30am-4.30pm which meant for almost the entire day we could not use the house ie no showers, no water, no aircon, no TV, no cooking (besides BBQ), food in fridge went hot. The only advice we received regarding the power outage was 5.30pm the day we arrived and the day before the power outage. I am sure the Bunya Mountains Accommodation would have been advised of the power outage well in advance and I think guests should have been advised well in advance and potentially given the opportunity to change dates/cancel as essentially what you were paying for was mostly unusable. The house though was lovely and had lots of little touches ie DVDS, board games, blankets. Very lovely home and would highly recommend it. The owners have done a great job of setting up the house to make it homely.

We always love our time in Bunya Mountains. There are plenty of walks to suit everyone, amenities to suit all and mostly we enjoy the peacefulness and relaxation.
Jane Carlisle
We love this property and have been staying here at Easter based on availability for over 20 years. As our family has grown the facility continued to offer beautiful views, break out and entertainment spaces. Recent redecorating of the bedrooms and renewing the upstairs deck has been a lovely addition. We do have adult family members that are not couples so only having 3 beds makes accommodating us all an issue. We would love it if some of the beds were changed to a queen that separated into singles depending on the guests.
Brett Irwin
The renovations and presentation of the house were amazing and once again we enjoyed our stay immensely. Also a shout out to Kylie for returning our fridge contents we forgot to bring home 🤣

We had a wonderful week on a writing retreat at Bowen House. The house was very comfortable, private and quiet. The majesty of the Bunya Mountains forest is the perfect inspiration for the creative soul. We will definitely be back again soon.

Very relaxing. Great house. Would go back again.

Lovely Location and great layout.

We loved our stay at the Bunya Mountains, having visited many times previously. We really liked Bowen House. The kitchen and bar is one of the best equipped we've stayed in. We were however quite disappointed that there is no recycling facilities for rubbish on the mountain, something really lacking in a national park where preserving the environment is such a priority.

Had a wonderful stay in the Bunya Mountains at Bowen House! Beautiful home with the deck looking out into the trees, plenty of room to get outside on private block and soak up nature. Looking forward to returning!
Jill Ludlow
This is about our 6 th time to the Bunyas, so we love the area, the walks, had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, and morning teas at Poppies, fantastic. Also the wildlife seems to have grown in population each time.
Margi Johnson

The house was in a lovey location with great ammenities and seclusion. The living room was great and the pool table and sauna were a delight.

Beautiful home. Well stocked with glasses and kitchen wear. No gas and bbq not cleaned well but would go back again and tell friends how awesome it is.
Caitlin Martin
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful property. We couldn’t fault it.
Jo Hurley
We have stayed at numerous houses over the past 25 or so years and truly loved Bowen House. The house offers everything you could possibly need plus more. The heaters and electric blankets were much appreciated. The sauna was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend this house.
Pamela Saville
This was the second time a group of us stayed here (2 couples). It's hard to find anything that matches its facilities and ambiance. Love the warmth of the timber internally, the wood fire heater, the pool table, the sauna, and the space inside and surrounding the property! The visiting birdlife was amazing along with the wallabies (and Joey's too) as well as a friendly possum. Highly recommend a stay at Bowen House!
Jim Rooney
Fantastic Well equipped home. Well managed and clean Thank you for sharing this home

BOWEN House was great we had an enjoyable time celebrating a 70th Birthday

We have lost count of the number of times we have stayed at Bunya Mountains. We have stayed in many different houses over the years and we have loved them all. Bowen house was no exception, the lounge area with the fireplace and the downstairs pool table area were fantastic. We had the most beautiful and relaxing time. The staff at the Accommodation centre are always helpful and friendly, and the houses are very high quality and clean and well appointed. There are beautiful walks to go on, birds to feed and fires to relax in front of - always a great weekend away! We will be back soon for another perfect weekend

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of staying in your beautiful home. It was so peaceful, relaxing and kept enticing us to extend our stay. The atrium and balcony were definite firm favourites and the wildlife came up so close. Can't wait to come back again!
